Goal: To familiarise you with negotiation as a genre and with the circumstances that shape international negotiation situations in many areas of everyday work, and to introduce you to the preparation methods, tactics and strategies that help you to negotiate successfully in intercultural contexts. In all areas of sport (e.g. competition organisation, federation relations, sports industry, sports diplomacy, media communication), there are many situations in everyday life where dealing with athletes, staff, officials, media can present new challenges and risks and practising effective communication in these situations will greatly help students prepare for their professional careers. The indirect and direct results of successful negotiation can be realised if the negotiator consciously prepares and continuously develops his/her own knowledge and skills, which will enable him/her not only to express his/her own business interests, but also to actively listen to his/her partner's needs, to seek a win-win situation and thus to achieve a mutually beneficial negotiation in the longer term.
